Mattress Moving Bags: A Practical Packing Guide
Protection for moving and storage
A moving bag creates a removable cover around a mattress during handling, transport or storage. It helps separate the mattress from the surrounding environment, but careful handling and a suitable storage location still matter. This reusable tarpaulin bag has eight handles, a zipper closure and an ID-tag insert. It is a moving accessory, not bedding to sleep inside.
Comparing bag types
Thin disposable plastic bags, heavier bags and reusable covers serve different moving routines. Compare material, closure, fit and handling instructions instead of judging by the label alone. A bag is not the same as a moving blanket: blankets can add padding, while a bag encloses the mattress. Neither removes the need to secure the load correctly in a vehicle.
Choose the size before moving day
Select Single, Double, Queen, King or California King. Compare your mattress width, length and depth with the selected option, and contact us if you need a measurement not shown. Leave enough room to close the bag without forcing the zip. A topper may need a different fit; do not assume the same bag will fit both a mattress and extra layers.
Prepare the mattress
Strip the bedding and check that the mattress is clean and completely dry. Inspect it for existing damage before packing. Plan the route through doors, halls and stairs and clear obstructions. Have enough people to handle the mattress safely; ask your movers about any restrictions or packing requirements. A bag does not make an awkward or heavy mattress safe for one person to lift.
Fit, close and label
Open the zipper and ease the bag around the mattress without dragging it across sharp edges. Distribute the fabric evenly, close the zip gently and check that nothing is trapped. Use the ID insert to identify the item when useful. Check the bag and handles before lifting. No tested carrying-capacity figure is listed, so the handles should not be assumed to support every mattress weight.
Transport carefully
Support the mattress, keep the route clear and coordinate movements with helpers. Follow the mattress maker’s orientation guidance and secure the load properly. Avoid sharp surfaces, dragging and exposed weather. A closed bag is not a guarantee against rain, flooding, pests or rough handling. Professional movers may still require their own wrapping or handling methods.
Storage, reuse and care
Choose a dry, suitable storage area and follow the mattress manufacturer’s storage instructions. Check the stored mattress periodically. No universal safe storage duration applies to every climate or location. Dry the bag fully after cleaning and inspect seams, handles and the zip before reuse. Follow its care instructions; do not assume it can be machine washed, ironed or used as a vacuum-compression bag.
Moving-day checklist and prices
Confirm the size, dry the mattress, clear your route, arrange helpers, fit and zip the bag, add an identifying label and secure the load. The CAD prices are $59 Single, $69 Double, $79 Queen, $89 King and $99 California King. Order with the delivery estimate in mind and contact us before buying if you need a specification for an unusual mattress or a particular moving arrangement.
